January 09 ...From Bo and Dennis, calle Roca (email: bobendana@yahoo.com): We and several of our neighbors have been using Sergio (Valenzuela Alvarez) [01-661-613-3119 in Rosarito] to do almost anything we need done. He is a true handyman. For us he has planted our very steep hill with ground cover, sanded and painted our wrought iron, patched and painted our home where needed, refinished woodwork, repaired cracked tiles, window washed our very high windows, detailed our cars, and numerous other things around ours and our neighbor's home. When my house cleaner didn't show up one day when I was having a party that night, Sergio came to the rescue and washed my floors, polished the wood, cleaned my windows and helped clean the kitchen. He is also great at appliance repairs, having repaired both our washer and dryers! There is nothing that we have asked him to do that he has not been able to and with enthusiasm and speed. And on top of that, he is dependable, reasonable in his prices (we pay him by both the hour or the day) and is very fluent in English. Without hesitation we recommend him. December 08...From John & Joan Kneuer, calle Farallon (email: jberndtk@aol.com): We want to recommend Scott Rivett [MX: 664-680-6870, U.S. Cell: (619) 886-7901]. We purchased our home in SADM in 2005, and recently had the interior and exterior painted. We had been having serious problems with ‘efflorescence’ (that white powdery deposit that appears on the surface of concrete, masonry & stucco). Plaster was falling from interior walls and stucco peeling from the exterior. We met Scott when he and his wife were visiting SADM earlier this year. He was working in the U.S. at the time, but agreed to tackle our project. He did a fantastic job. The restoration work was extensive, but the result was well worth the time involved. Scott is a hard worker, very honest, reliable, and treated our home as if it were his own while the work was in progress. Scott and his wife, Carmen, live in Playas de Tijuana.
August 08...From Liz Walton (email: walton.liz@gmail.com): When I purchased my house here in SADM, I asked the owner if there was much maintenance required. His very honest answer was: CONSTANTLY. In the past 12 years, I've come to understand that living this close to the sea, is like living on a ship - and does require constant maintenance. Jose (Manuel Ramierz Jimenez) and his partner Luis (Chavez) have done excellent maintenance work for me. Jose is the maestro and Luis is his helper. They specialize in general maintenance: painting, masonry, carpentry and tile work. Jose built a beautiful rock wall for me - using rocks that we picked up on the beach. He has recently refinished an oak dining room table and chairs for me, and it looks brand new!
Jose understands the difference between "construction" and finish work. He is good at problem solving and he cleans up after his work is completed each day. These guys live in the same neighborhood in Rosarito and have known each other all their lives. They went to school together when they were young. They are honest, hard working, dependable and pleasant guys to have around. You may reach them through their sisters: Jose's sister: Maite at 045 661 119 1717 . They are willing to work by the hour, by the day or by the project. Luis is fluent in English.
